Samuel Kelly
From the cornfields of southeast Michigan, comes a young professional cellist who bridges the gap between the classical and experimental aesthetics. Samuel Vinton Augustus Kelly has taken his traditional instrument proses beyond the practice room in order to entertain, educate and engage audience members throughout the Midwest and even across the pond. From pop-up concerts in London with the DePauw Chamber Orchestra to barnyard concert series in the foothills of Vermonot as a Manchester Music Festival Young Artist, Samuel has never turned down the opportunity to share the gift of music. More recently, Samuel has taken his talents toward a modern approach by collaborating and experimenting in mixed media performance. From 2017 onward, Samuel has premiered compositions at the SPLICE Music Festival, collaborated on various musical scores for live and recorded media in Kalamazoo, Michigan and assisted in fostering the growth of our dear, Found Sound Ensemble. Samuel holds a Bachelor of Music degree from DePauw University and a Master of Music degree from Western Michigan University. Samuel enjoys long walks on the beach, making home-made hummus, and recording YouTube content as his alter-ego, HumbleDew.
